Streetwise Self-Defense Keychain Combo

The Streetwise Self-Defense Keychain Combo keeps both tools on your keys so they're already in your hand when you're walking to your car, with no digging through a bag and no fumbling under pressure. The SMACK stun gun is about 3 inches, clips directly to a keychain, and is rated at 16,000,000 volts in a package small enough to hold in a closed fist. The Streetwise Sticky Gel pepper spray reaches 12 feet, and its gel formula bursts out at over 120 PSI, sticks to the target on contact, and is difficult to wipe off. Together they cover both distance and close contact from the same keychain, and the combo costs less than buying the two separately.

Streetwise Keychain Combo — What's Included

• SMACK stun gun — 16,000,000 volts: Approximately 3 inches, built-in keychain, LED flashlight, two-level safety switch, USB rechargeable with included cord, holster included, lifetime warranty
• Streetwise Sticky Gel pepper spray — 1.4% Major Capsaicinoids: 12-foot range at 120 PSI, a gel that adheres to the target and is difficult to wipe off, UV dye plus an orange stain for attacker identification, less wind blowback than liquid spray, and effects that last up to 45 minutes

The SMACK's two-level safety prevents accidental discharge on a keychain: the safety switch must be on and the activation button pressed before the stun function operates. The LED flashlight works independently of the stun function, so it's practical for everyday use without activating the defense mode. At 3 inches it disappears into a closed hand. For full specs and reviews on the stun gun alone, see the SMACK Keychain Stun Gun product page.

Why Pepper Gel on a Keychain

Traditional liquid spray disperses into the air around the target. In wind it can blow back toward the user, and indoors it can affect others in the area. The Streetwise gel bursts out at over 120 PSI in a concentrated stream that reaches 12 feet, hits the target, and stays there. It adheres on contact, which makes it difficult to wipe away. Its 1.4% Major Capsaicinoids rating matches the full-size Wildfire gel canisters, and the UV dye and orange stain left on the attacker can help law enforcement identify them afterward. The advantages over a standard keychain spray are the longer reach and the gel's adhesion. For full specs and reviews on the pepper gel alone, see the Streetwise Sticky Gel Pepper Spray product page.

Is the SMACK stun gun powerful enough despite its small size?

The SMACK is rated at 16,000,000 volts. Voltage is an unloaded rating, so it doesn't tell the whole story, and a stun gun only works on direct contact. The arc and its sound are designed to deter, and contact is what delivers the effect. The real advantage of the compact size is that it gets carried. A stun gun that stays on your keychain goes with you every day, while a larger unit that lives in a bag tends to get left behind. A self-defense tool only helps if it's on you when something happens.

Can you use pepper gel indoors?

Gel is the better formulation for enclosed spaces. Liquid pepper spray disperses into the surrounding air and can affect anyone in the room, including the person deploying it. The Streetwise gel is a targeted stream that hits the target and sticks, rather than dispersing into a cloud. That makes it a better fit for a building entrance, stairwell, elevator, or vehicle, where aerosol blowback would be a concern. For other gel sizes, see our pepper gel collection.

Is this a taser and pepper spray combo?

People often search for this pairing that way. The SMACK is a contact stun gun, not a dart-firing TASER, since TASER is Axon's trademarked brand. It works on direct contact, and the pepper gel covers the distance.

Should you buy the combo or the two products separately?

The combo is priced lower than buying the SMACK stun gun and the Streetwise Sticky Gel individually, so it's the better value if you're getting both either way. Buying them separately still makes sense if you only want one of the two tools, or if you already own one and just need the other.
