The Streetwise Door Stop Alarm slides under any inward-opening door and does two things at once: the wedge physically resists the door being pushed open, and a 120dB alarm triggers when the door presses the alarm plate inward far enough to activate it. No installation, no wiring, no tools — place it on the floor behind the door, then switch it on. The three sensitivity modes control how far the plate must be pressed before the alarm triggers, letting you set the threshold for your situation. One 9-volt battery required, not included. Measures 5½" x 2" x 1½". One-year warranty.

Door Stop Alarm Features and Specs

  • 120dB alarm: Triggers when the door presses the alarm plate inward — alerts you and deters the intruder simultaneously
  • Wedge design with non-slip rubber base: Physically resists the door being pushed open while the alarm sounds — two layers of protection from one device
  • Three sensitivity modes: High, medium, and low — controls how far the alarm plate must be pressed inward before the siren activates
  • ON/OFF switch: Place the wedge in position first, then switch on — switching on before placing will trigger the alarm
  • No installation required: Works on any inward-opening door — inward-opening doors only
  • Dimensions: 5½" x 2" x 1½"
  • Power: One 9-volt battery (not included)
  • One-year warranty

The correct sequence matters: place the wedge on the floor behind the door first, position it snugly against the door base, then switch it on. Once armed, any attempt to push the door inward presses the plate and activates the 120dB siren. The wedge's rubber base grips the floor surface and the door pressure drives it harder into position — the more force applied to the door, the more resistance the wedge provides.

Portable Door Stopper Alarm — Travel Security Without Installation

Hotel and motel rooms often have inward-opening doors with locks that vary considerably in quality. The door stop alarm adds security that doesn't depend on the existing lock hardware — the wedge sits on the floor and uses friction and door pressure to resist entry regardless of what the lock mechanism does. It packs flat in a suitcase and sets up in seconds in any room. For travelers who want an additional detection layer before any door pressure occurs, pairing this with a door knob alarm gives you an alert at the knob the moment it's touched, and physical resistance from the wedge if entry is attempted.

How does a door stop alarm work?

The door stop alarm uses a pressure-activated sensor built into the wedge body. When a door is pushed inward, it contacts the alarm plate on the wedge. As the door presses the plate inward, the sensor detects the movement and triggers the 120dB alarm. The sensitivity setting controls the threshold — how far the plate must be pressed before activation. On high sensitivity the alarm triggers with less pressure; on low sensitivity more force is required before the alarm sounds. The wedge shape means door pressure also drives the base harder into the floor, increasing resistance as more force is applied. The alarm continues sounding until the door pressure is released and the unit is switched off and reset.

Will this work on all doors?

The door stop alarm works only on inward-opening doors — the wedge mechanism requires the door to open toward the wedge to create resistance and activate the pressure sensor. Outward-opening doors, sliding doors, and pocket doors are not compatible. Most interior residential doors, hotel room doors, and apartment entry doors open inward, making this compatible with the most common entry points where travel and home security is needed. The device works on hard floors and carpet.
