Repeller Stun Baton Instructions

How to Operate & Troubleshoot the Repeller Stun Baton

The Repeller Stun Baton has four separate safety stages that all need to be active before it will fire — this is deliberate, not a defect. A stun device this powerful is built to resist accidental discharge, so it takes a specific sequence to arm it. If your unit isn't turning on, the most common cause is simply one of the four steps below being missed or not fully seated — work through them in order.

  1. Charge the unit. Plug the included charging cable into the port on the bottom of the handle. Charge for a full 6 to 8 hours before first use — no more than 8 hours. A partially charged unit may not have enough power to arm, and overcharging will shorten the battery's life span over time.
  2. Insert the disable pin. Push the wrist-strap disable pin firmly into the jack on the bottom of the handle until it's fully seated. If this pin is missing or not pushed in all the way, the unit's safety system keeps it completely disabled — this is the single most common reason a Repeller won't turn on.
  3. Turn on the bottom master switch. Flip the toggle switch on the bottom of the handle, next to the pin jack, to the "ON" position.
  4. Slide the side switch all the way up. Locate the sliding switch on the side of the handle and slide it all the way up — not just partway — to arm the stun feature.
  5. Press the red rocker switch. Toggle the red rocker switch on the side of the handle to the "I" position to activate the stun.

Testing the Unit — Important

If you want to test-fire the unit into the air to confirm it's working, press the trigger for no more than 1 second at a time. Discharging for longer than 1 second, or repeated long test-fires, can damage the unit and will void the warranty. There's no need to test the unit before every use — a monthly check is plenty, and it isn't damaged by contact use against an actual threat, only by extended discharge into open air.

Charging and Battery Care

Charge for 6 to 8 hours before first use — never longer than 8 hours, as overcharging shortens the battery's overall life span. A full charge typically holds for about 3 months of normal storage. Rather than letting the battery run down and doing another full charge, the better long-term habit is a shorter top-off charge of 2 to 4 hours once a month. The battery is rated for up to 900 charge cycles under normal use, and it still needs a charge every 3 to 4 months even in storage to stay fresh and operational.

Lost or Missing Disable Pin?

A disable pin is included with your Repeller, attached to the wrist strap so it doesn't get separated from the unit — but if yours has come loose or gone missing, the baton cannot be armed until it's replaced. A replacement wrist strap with disable pin is available to order directly.

Quick Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Is the wrist-strap pin fully seated in the bottom jack — pushed all the way in, not just resting in the opening?
  • Is the bottom master power switch flipped to "ON"?
  • Is the side slider switch pushed all the way up, not stopped partway?
  • Is the red rocker switch toggled to "I"?
  • Has the unit received a full 6 to 8 hour charge, especially if this is a new or long-unused unit?
