A magnetic sensor triggers a 105 dB siren the moment a door or window is opened β€” and only the deactivation key can silence it. That key stays with you. Without it, the alarm keeps sounding until the door or window is closed again. Stick-on adhesive mount, no tools, no wiring, batteries included and ready to use.

Door and Window Alarm Features and Specs

  • 105 dB siren: Loud enough to be heard throughout the house β€” comparable to a smoke alarm
  • Deactivation key: Only the key silences the alarm β€” a teenager cannot disable it without it
  • Magnetic sensor: Triggers instantly when door or window separates from the frame
  • Adhesive mount: Stick-on installation, no tools or wiring required
  • Compact size: 2.5" x 1.5" x 0.5" (3" with key inserted) β€” unobtrusive on any frame
  • Batteries included: Three LR44 button cell batteries pre-included
  • 1-year warranty

Works on bedroom windows, front doors, sliding glass doors, RV doors, dorm rooms, and hotel rooms. Also useful inside the home on gun cabinets or medicine cabinets β€” the magnetic sensor works on any door or drawer that opens.

For extra security, glue the battery compartment shut after installing. This prevents the alarm from being disabled by removing the batteries.

Also an Effective Alarm for an Open Window or Door

The same mechanism that alerts a parent to a teen slipping out works just as well as a straightforward intrusion alarm β€” the magnetic sensor doesn't know or care why the window opened, only that it did. Mounted on a ground-floor window, sliding door, or any secondary entry point, it delivers the same instant 105 dB response to someone opening it from outside as it does to someone opening it from inside. For general home security use, the deactivation key still matters: it means the alarm can only be turned off by someone who has the key, not just anyone who finds the unit. Renters and apartment dwellers use it the same way for a no-wiring, no-installation alarm on any window or door.

Will this stop a teenager from sneaking out?

It's an effective deterrent. The 105 dB alarm goes off the moment the window or door opens β€” loud enough to wake a sleeping household. The deactivation key is the critical feature here: without it, there's no way to open the window quietly. A teenager who knows the alarm is installed and that you hold the only key has no silent exit. Mount it on bedroom windows and any exterior door they could access. For determined teens, combining this with a door alarm on their bedroom door gives you two points of detection.

How does the deactivation key work?

The deactivation key is a small physical key that inserts into the alarm unit. When inserted before opening, it suppresses the alarm so you can open the door or window normally. Remove the key and the alarm is active again. The alarm sounds until the key is inserted or the door or window is closed β€” there is no way to silence it without the key. Keep the key somewhere your child cannot access it.

Does this work as a general window or door alarm, not just for kids?

Yes β€” the sensor and siren function identically regardless of who or what opens the door or window. It's a genuine magnetic entry alarm first, and the "kids sneaking out" use case is simply the most common reason people search for one. Mount it on any window or door you want to know the instant it opens, whether the concern is an intruder, a curious toddler, or a pet getting into somewhere it shouldn't.

They are nice for what they are, but we have a primary security system now and will most likely uninstall them when the batteries go dead. Until then, they do help with peace of mind.

This is deceiving because it says it can only be shut off with the key. That not necessary true. It will shut off once the door is closed. This one is really no different then the ones that can be bought at the hardware stores. They key really makes no advantage. Being that if you kid seeking out or what have you wanted to shut this alarm off they have easy access to the battery’s to remove them. I am really disappointed with this purchase as I can get a similar product for a lot cheaper else where.

Might not work if you have bold children living in your home but it was a good investment for me

Excellent product! Trying to keep a mischievous teen IN the house, and it did the job! I did end up taping the battery compartment closed to prevent tampering, and it is only on our sliding glass door. If you’re looking for a window solution, a 4” screw worked for us! So easy to remove the key and put back again in the morning! Reasonable price too!! We got 4!

Teenage daughter figured out to remove batteries from the front of the alarm. The batteries shouldn't be easy to access. Should be on the back so if it is removed the alarm goes off. Not really good for keeping kids from sneaking out.

These are a great deal! I use them on all of my downstairs windows. I would have given these a five star rating except they aren't fool-proof for keeping your teen from leaving through a window.

This alarm can be good for keeping teens in, but you need to glue the battery door shut because your teen could simply remove the batteries to turn off the alarm before opening the window. In addition, if you also use it for a door, during the day you may need to put the deactivation key in the alarm so you can use the door without alarming. If you leave the key in the door alarm, all the teen needs to do is take the key while the door is closed, hide it, and use it to disable the alarm for their window.
