View full detailsWhat's in a College Safety Kit
The two complete kits each pair a stun gun and a pepper spray with a door wedge alarm, a pepper spray training guide, and a hollowed-out book safe. The College Woman Safety Kit also adds a pink mini personal alarm, and its stun gun is a cell phone model with its own alarm and flashlight. The College Man Safety Kit uses the Runt stun gun, which has a built-in flashlight. Individual components are also sold separately for students who need to replace a specific item, add to an existing kit, or skip items their campus prohibits.
Campus Safety by Situation
Walking to class at night is the most common scenario — a personal alarm on a keychain and a flashlight for dark paths are the two most practical tools for this situation. The Keychain Alarm with Light combines both in one device. For dorm room security while sleeping or studying, the Door Stopper Alarm wedges under the door and sounds if it's pushed open. The Door Knob Alarm adds a second layer on the same door. For ground-floor or basement windows in off-campus housing, the Window Vibration Alert detects tampering before entry occurs.
Campus Weapons Policies
Many campuses prohibit stun guns, TASERs, and pepper spray, so verify your campus rules before ordering either kit, since both include a stun gun and a pepper spray. Personal alarms, flashlights, and door alarms are generally accepted even on strict campuses. If your campus prohibits the stun gun or the spray, the alarm and door security items are sold separately and still provide meaningful protection on their own.
Complete Kit or Individual Items?
A complete kit makes sense when outfitting a new student, buying as a graduation or move-in gift, or when all components are needed at once. Individual items make more sense when a student already has some tools, when a campus prohibits certain kit components, or when buying replacements and add-ons. The Panic Alarm Keychain and Mini Personal Alarm are the most affordable entry points for students who just need a basic personal alarm without a full kit. For the full range of personal alarm options, browse the personal alarms collection.
TSA Travel Note
Personal alarms, flashlights, and safety whistles are permitted in carry-on luggage. Pepper spray must be checked — 4 oz or less, in a bag with other liquids. Students traveling home for breaks or returning to campus by air should pack accordingly.
