Here’s a story about some home security tips offered by the police department in a central New Jersey area. They include all the basic home security tips that you can read anywhere so this will serve as a reminder.

Lock all your doors and windows even when you’re at home.

Remove shrubs from around lower-level blows doors and windows

Don’t leave a ladder around. The bad guys can use it to get access to a second story window.

You can read the rest of the story HERE to get more good ideas.

One thing they don’t cover is ideas for security for people who live in apartments or for people who travel. One of the best things you can do for apartment living or for room security when you travel is to get the Door Stop Alarm.

It is the perfect security tool for people who live in apartments or for people who travel a lot and stay in hotel rooms. You wedge it underneath a door and it acts as a door stop. If someone tries to force the door open it activates an alarm that is loud enough to wake you if you’re asleep. But it certainly will scare the bad guys away.

All across the country police departments are joining the Taser revolution. Over 12,000 law enforcement agencies carry and use tasers with more starting every day. When a department makes a decision to use tasers their officers must undergo training. Part of that training is they are subjected to a shot from a taser so they can get a feel for what it’s like.

Another part of the training is learning the ‘use of force policies that include general orders that “clearly and strictly” identify how and when a Taser should be used. Officers are also being trained on the documentation they will have to fill out if they use a Taser.’

You can read the whole story HERE.

Similar trainings are usually at least partially open to the public so they can learn how effective tasers are.

The most popular civilian version of the taser is the C 2 Taser that was specifically developed for use by women. It is considerably smaller than law enforcement models but it does the same thing-shooting out two electrified darts to immobilize a target.

One of the advantages of learning boxing or any other kind of martial art is building self-esteem. Not only do you learn how to defend yourself but you learn to feel better about yourself-something that’s lacking a lot of teenagers. This ARTICLE explains how young teenagers are learning how to box to do just that up in Washington state.

It has often been said that the best defense is a good offense. In this case we feel that self-defense is the best offense. We have often maintained that if young children learn how to defend themselves when they are small, those skills will not only improve and keep them in shape but help protect them against things like bullying.

One of the best ways to learn self-defense tactics is from an absolute expert. And the self-defense training DVD called Street Safe is one of the best especially for beginners, young kids and women. They can teach you the basics of self-defense in an hour.

In Portland, Oregon recently a man was seen acting suspiciously in a Macy’s department store. The loss prevention of sure the store approached the man outside the store and asked him to return to the store with the stolen goods that he had. The man got into a confrontation with the loss prevention officer and another store employee. Police were called and they saw the suspect in a fight with the two store employees. When he failed to comply with police directives they subdued him with a taser. The whole story is told HERE.

The Advanced Taser is similar to ones used by law enforcement but only has range of 15 feet. It shoots out two electrified darts that will penetrate an inch of clothing. The electrical charge will incapacitate assailants with amazing stopping power-more than a 9 mm handgun.

You must be able to pass a background check before the taser can be activated.

Here is another story about a neighborhood that is being ravaged by home invasions. Not only does it put neighbors on the edge but it gives the neighborhood a bad reputation. You can read the whole story <a href=http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/crime-punishment/2012/01/home-invasions-rattle-md-neighborhoods/2095486"> HERE. This scene is repeated almost on a daily basis throughout the country in different cities.

There are two things that can be done to prevent home invasions. The point of entry is almost always the front door. Do not open your front door reflexively when someone knocks. Make sure you know who is there before you let anyone in. And secondly if somebody does get in that means you harm have some self defense products around the house.

I would recommend the new Wildfire Pepper Gel in a couple of locations throughout the house. Pepper gel has a better range than normal sprays and is more reliable in aim because it is thicker.

Check out all of our other Wildfire Pepper Sprays.

Remember the old expression an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? That is essentially what this article is about. It is about the ability to defend yourself in a situation where you feel threatened.

You can read the whole story HERE.

No matter what your age, you can learn the basics of self-defense from a world-class professional. Jeet Kune Do is a form of self-defense that’s been described as a “style without style.” It is basically streetfighting. And in his video Paul Vunak, who teaches some of the most elite fighters in the world such as Navy SEALs, FBI, CIA, SWAT teams and others, the basics of “Jeet Kune Do” shows you in about 60 minutes how to increase your fighting ability two-fold.

The video called Street Safe teaches the eight basic principles of this fighting style in a no-nonsense way. No previous martial arts experiences required and no previous fighting experiences required. It is basically the place to start for someone who wants to learn how to fight.

You can check out all of our other Martial Arts DVD’s to see if one of them isn’t right for you.

Like all self defense products, stun devices, a.k.a. the stun guns, are meant to disable an assailant for short period of time, allowing you the opportunity to escape a dangerous situation and get help. Stun devices disable an assailant by causing his muscles to work very rapidly in a short period of time similar to running a marathon.

This overworking of the body depletes it of all blood sugars that are needed for energy so the assailant has no energy left. The more powerful the stun device the quicker that it can work. The “Runt” stun gun and the “Hot Shot” are both very powerful at 4.5 million volts.

The two that I like the best are the “Pretender” stun gun and the “Immobilizer”. The reason I like them is because they are both disguised as cell phone stun guns which gives you the added advantage of surprise an attack.

The Pretender Stun Gun is 4.5 million volts and has two levels of safety built-in.

The Immobilizer Stun Gun is 5 million volts one of our most powerful stun guns.

By popular request we’re going to do a couple of blog postings to bring you up-to-date on which self defense products that are our most popular.

Number three is the Pretender Stun Gun. It looks just like a camera cell phone but is a powerful 4.5 million volt stun gun. It has a built-in 12 LED flashlight and has two levels of safety built-in to prevent accidental discharge. It also has a lifetime warranty which gives you an idea of the quality of the product to begin with.

Coming in at number four is the Blowgun. This may surprise a lot of people but a blowgun is a fun way to play. I think it’s more fun than darts and more challenging.

Blowguns have been around for over 40,000 years as one of the first weapons ever used. They are crude in a way but very accurate. Each of our blowguns comes with target darts, a mouthpiece, muzzle guard, foam grip and a dart quiver. They can shoot target darts, stun darts and paintballs. The longer the blowgun the faster and further it will go. They come in sizes of 18, 24, 36, 48 and 60 inch lengths.

The next most popular item that we sell is a package of 100 target darts that goes with the blowgun. They are sharpened wire darts with a .40 caliber end.

We will talk about the rest of the list in the coming days but in the meantime, check out our Top 10 Best-Selling Products
