In July of this year in Washington, D.C., a woman was shot in the leg and another man wounded outside a mall. Half a country away a laptop was stolen from an internet cafe and went unnoticed for 30 minutes. In Maine, a man was on a one man crime spree and burglarized six businesses. All of these suspect when caught because of business surveillance cameras. Everyday hundreds if not thousands of would be criminals are identified and millions of dollars of inventory not stolen because these cameras work as such an effective deterrent.

Business cameras and surveillance has come a long was over the years and is now much more versatile and cheaper than it has been. On top of that consumers continue to find new uses for the technology.

Let’s start with some of the advancements. First let’s start with those old VCR tapes. Gone. With today’s PC driven systems, your footage is stored right on the hard drive. Think of how many movies can be stored on an 80 gig hard drive. Well, business surveillance cameras only take a fraction of frame per second compared to a movie. And to make thing a little cheaper for people who had a watch-only system, The old cameras and coaxial cables can still be used and one simple PCI card can take in up to 16 coaxial feeds (and an audio one if you want to hear your stuff stolen as well as watching it).

Then there are the cameras. They can still come in the large size but also as small as a deck of cards if you need to be more subtle if you need them to be. Now they also can be used in low light situations where they were not able to record before, down to .ooo1 lux which is almost complete darkness.

Software as well can be a big help to maximize your use. For instance, in some systems where you are watching a register you can have it show you what was rung. In other cases it can be configured only to record when there is movement and alert you when there is movement and there should not be. You can even make part of the scene so it ignores the movement there, like outside a window, yet still notice movement inside the front door.

Business security cameras have come a long way. Every business owner owes it to themselves to see how the new technology can work for them.

Cool spy gadgets used to be exclusively available to detectives and the law enforcement, but not anymore. If you have your own mystery case to pursue or if you want to defend yourself better without having to resort to physical violence, spy glasses are what you need.

Rear View Spy Sunglasses
You can use them to track your target or prevent others from tracking you. Rear view spy sunglasses look no different from any other ordinary pair of sunglasses at first glance. But try it on and you’ll realize that it works exactly like a rearview mirror, allowing you to see who and what’s behind you.

Rear view spy sunglasses are perfect if you have a feeling you’re being followed. One look through its special frames will be enough to confirm or reject your suspicions. These special spy glasses are also ideal for cyclists and runners as wearing rear view spy sunglasses will prevent them from becoming vulnerable to any attacks from behind.

Rear view spy sunglasses also come with UV protection and its own carrying case.

Camcorder Spy Sunglasses
Are you about to meet someone intending to blackmail or threaten you in any way? Are you about to witness or do something you’d rather have proof of? If so, what you need is a pair of camcorder spy sunglasses.

Camcorder spy sunglasses possess a modern, sleek design that makes them quite a fashionable accessory to have. But of course, they have special functions that go beyond protecting your eyes from harsh sunlight.

These extraordinary spy sunglasses are equipped with a pinhole CMOS camera and microphone. Its built-in micro controls are wireless and its lens do not come with any telltale glow, allowing you to perform a completely covert operation. Your subject will not have a single clue when you commence video surveillance with a single touch of a button.

Product Features and Specifications
Its one-size-fits-all frame and user-friendly controls make camcorder spy sunglasses suitable for all individuals.

Its pinhole camera is capable of delivering 320 x 420 images of high resolution as well as recording five hours of video with its 2GB internal memory. You have the option, however, of upgrading to 8GB for sixteen hours of video recording. An external memory card slot is also provided, which is capable of managing up to a 2GB micro SD card.

Captured photos and footage can be easily transferred to a computer or other storage devices with its USB cable. Charging is done via its USB connection as well.

Alertness is the first step in self-defense and there’s no better way to be and stay prepared when you can see everything with covert spy glasses.

Provide a means to record and monitor activities covertly
One of the best reasons why people use a hidden camera with a DVR is that it is a way to observe activities surreptitiously. Although this may be sneaky by nature, using a hidden camera allows you to observe people behaving naturally, something that is near impossible to do if they are aware that a camera is observing them.

Easy to conceal
Hidden cameras, unlike their more traditional cousins the video cameras, are built for stealth. They are generally smaller which makes them easy to hide behind virtually anything and can even be built into an ordinary object. This is how you could have a hidden camera within stuffed toys, alarm clocks, air fresheners, humidifiers, books, picture frames, even small items like fake pens and beepers.

The benefit of hidden cameras of this type is that they can be placed anywhere without anybody suspecting that there’s more to them than what they appear. They can be placed readily in the target area without raising any suspicions. Depending on the model, these hidden cameras usually record images remotely to a DVR, so their design do not actually interfere with their function.

Easy to use viewing features
The main challenge with older analog video cameras or those that used tapes to record images was that they produced blurry pictures. What made reviewing the tapes more difficult was that the images were mostly in black and white. If they came in color, the recording device simply wasn’t sophisticated enough to preserve the true colors of these images.

There is also the question about the quality of the tape itself. Images tended to deteriorate with older tapes, making them difficult to store for future playback. Tapes also tended to produce lesser quality images through repeated viewings, rewinds and fast forwards.

With the newer hidden camera DVR, images are stored digitally, so they are reproduced in greater detail, with better clarity and color. Digitally recorded images using hidden cameras are also easy to view since they can be set up to record only when motion or activity is detected. Otherwise, the recording function is turned off. What this means is that there’s no need to waste several hours of tape or memory on a blank screen. Viewing is also easier because only images showing activities on them will be recorded.

Many households with small children or elderly parents rely on the nanny cam to monitor and record activities in the absence of the parent or a responsible adult. Over the past few years, nanny cams have helped detect dangerous behavior or unhealthy practices that could prove detrimental to the health and wellbeing of a child or an adult requiring care. But while the general use of nanny cams under reasonable circumstances may be legal, there are certain restrictions regarding its use to record sound. Find out why nanny cams cannot have audio so you can protect yourself from a possible civil lawsuit.

Legal use of nanny cams
In general, hidden cameras such as nanny cams are deemed legal if they are installed in places considered for general public access. In the home, these include the living room, family den, backyard, frontyard, kitchen and even the ward’s bedroom. Since these are areas of the house frequented by most of the occupants (including the nanny or caregiver), there is no danger that the camera may be recording private behavior.

Nanny cams are considered illegal when used to monitor areas where the nanny or caregiver may require some privacy. These areas include the bathroom, toilet, dressing room, closet, locker room, hotel room or the nanny’s own bedroom in case of live-in arrangements. As to using a nanny cam to record audio, there are also laws governing this type of activity that you have to be aware about.

Why audio may not be allowed with nanny cams
The top reason why nanny cams cannot have audio is that every individual is protected by certain state and federal laws about eavesdropping and wiretapping. Check local resources for the Electronic Communications Privacy Act that covers wiretapping. Although each state will have a different statute regarding the act of recording conversations, you will find that most areas will require you to have the express consent of at least one party.

If your state allows the consent of just one party, you could provide consent on behalf of your child who is a minor and record audio. However, make sure that the area where the audio is being recorded is not a private location.

There are also states (12 as of last count) that require the consent of all parties concerned, including California, Florida, Maryland, Washington, New Hampshire and Montana, among others. To be on the safe side, always consult your local authorities regarding this matter, particularly if you’re planning on recording audio with your nanny cam. This will ensure that you respect the rights of your nanny or caregiver and that you avoid any circumstance that could lead to legal action against you.
