Here’s a story about a big 400 pound bear that had been roaming around neighborhoods for three weeks eating trash out of garbage cans. The bear was finally shot with a tranquilizer dart and removed to a safer habitat.
You can read the whole story HERE.
It is not uncommon for bears to wander down out of mountainous regions into neighborhoods looking for food, especially in spring time after they come out of hibernation or in the fall before they go into hibernation.
What would you do if you had that big bear in your backyard?
We have always recommend people carry Bear Spray when they go into the back country for hunting, camping, hiking or fishing. It just makes common sense to have that valuable self-defense product with you. But people who live in areas adjacent to mountains also know the dangers of having a bear roaming around. For that reason it makes sense to have some bear spray available just in case. On more than one occasion bears have tried to get into homes. That could actually ruin your day.

Assaults on women in particular are becoming more commonplace. Assaults in general have increased by 5 percent over previous years. That does not seem like a huge number but when defending yourself in an assault has become a relatively easy thing to do, why don’t more women take the extra effort and get some self-defense products to defend themselves?
Self-defense products in general are small, inexpensive less than lethal products developed originally by the military and police to provide a nonlethal alternative to the deadly force of a handgun. In the last 10 years especially self-defense products have become immensely popular because word has gotten around this to how effective they are.
Stun Devices for example, can disable an assailant for 5 to 10 minutes allowing you time to get away and seek help.
Pepper Sprays on the other hand can disable an assailant for as much as 45 minutes.
Self-defense products should be your first line self-defense when you feel threatened. Stun guns and pepper sprays are two good ways to do it.

Here’s an interesting story about some burglars who robbed a Holman expensive Los Angeles neighborhood. They not only took items from safe but apparently they move safe using one of the rugs in the home. Clever boys.
You can read the whole story
HERE.
What made this interesting to me was that the owners claimed that there were $10 million worth of goods stolen. The police on the other hand are highly suspicious of this amount for a couple a reasons mostly because homeowners can’t verify the value of the goods stolen.
We have several effective Home Security Alarms. that are motion activated or work on passive infrared sensors.
The Motion Detector Alarm is a passive infrared model that can protect up to 40 feet away in a 110° arc. When motion is detected in that area a 105 dB alarm sounds.

Here’s a story that should come as no surprise to anyone. When burglars target homes, they usually pick what they perceive to be homes in affluent neighborhoods. What else is new? And they should come as no surprise either. Burglars use a technique called “knock knock”that is time-tested and works all the time.
They target a home and knock on the front door. If no one answers they then proceed to the back of the house and break in. Statistics show that it usually takes about 10 or 11 seconds to break in because most homeowners leave their doors and windows unlocked.
You can read the rest of the story HERE.
The story goes on to explain that if they hear a dog barking they pick another house. That can make no better advertisement for the Barking Dog Alarm. If someone enters the protected area while the alarm is armed the sound of a barking dog starts.
If you don’t want a dog then get the barking dog alarm; it is much less trouble than a real dog and just as effective.

There is a controversy over the rating of the movie “bully.” There is no controversy over the subject matter which continues to rage as a problem especially for teenagers. The movie shows five teenagers who are subjected to bullying from various sources and how they react to it.
You can read the rest of the story HERE.
A lot of the movie was shot with hidden cameras to make sure that there was spontaneity from the teenagers.
You don’t need to have bullying going on in your teenager’s life to have a hidden camera. They are most notably used as nanny cameras or to catch anyone doing things they shouldn’t be doing.
The Alarm Clock Spy Camera is perhaps the most famous and widely sold hidden spy camera in the world. For good reason! It is a high quality Sony “dream machine” AM/FM clock radio and inside is a hidden camera and DVR to record all the action,

Here’s an article that addresses the issue of home burglaries and how they are greatly reduced by using home alarms and home security systems.
You can read the rest of the story HERE
We have several Wireless Home Alarms that actually do two things. If someone does break into your house it acts as a burglar alarm scaring the burglar away. Secondly, it alerts neighbors and passersby that there’s a potential problem going on in your home. Most burglar alarms are at least 100 to 105 dB and more, which is plenty loud to alert your neighbors.
The 105 db Motion Detector Alarm is one of the most effective burglar alarms we have. It operates at 110° field of view up to 40 feet away. If motion is detected in that area the alarm goes off.

We get a lot of questions from customers about how images are recorded or transmitted from a spy camera. That leads me to believe that there’s a lot of confusion about how security cameras or hidden cameras work.
So here we are going to try to do our best to explain how hidden security cameras work.
Take a mundane item that people are used to seeing around the home, office or business and put a board camera inside it. Audio is illegal in a hidden camera unless it’s for law enforcement agencies with the exception of “body worn cameras” according to title 18 sections 2512 of the USC.
A hidden camera can be wired or wireless. Wired cameras have a video cable that runs from the camera to a recording device or viewing device like a DVR, VCR or monitor. A wireless camera has a transmitter built-in that sends a signal to a receiver. The receiver is hooked up to a recording or viewing device.
To record you need a DVR or VCR. The camera by itself will not do that. Wireless hidden cameras can transmit up to 1000 feet unless you get a high power option which adds another 1500 feet for a total of 2500 feet or close to half mile. Not all cameras have that option.
Newer models of spy cameras have a built in DVR which many folks find easier and cheaper in the long run. These DVR Hidden Cameras don’t require a separate DVR to record.
That is the down and dirty of how hidden security cameras work.

You may have heard about this unbelievable story told by a man named Mr. Biggs in Northern California. He claims that he was attacked by a mountain lion and while he was being attacked a bear came by and saved him, fighting off the mountain lion.
You can read the rest of the story HERE.
Mr. Biggs claims that he was observing the bear and a cub nearby when attacked by a mountain lion. Wildlife officials are very skeptical about the story, but are checking it out.
Wildlife officials and even the Sierra Club recommend that you carry the bear pepper spray when you go into the back country. Guard Alaska Spray is the most widely used pepper spray in the world. It even works against mountain lions, who have very sensitive noses as well as bears.
